i wish i could insert that sonic the hedgehog sound effect, of breathing bubbles underwater. Hah this is a peek at East Coast Rising 2. I plan to finish it this summer.

I wish there was less time between volumes, but seriously folks, drawing a monthly comic for Vertigo and a graphic novel for Tokyopop (plus doing freelance for Disney!) it's no easy task.

Anyway, I'll keep posting tidbits until I have more news. East Coast Rising was optioned for an animated film recently too, that's cool. There might not be much that comes from it (I've been involved with the film business before, it's hard to make anything go, especially when it's animated.) Oh well! We'll see!! Everyone who hasn't yet, go pick up a copy of the first book! Hah.

From the pages I've seen, your inking between this volume and the last has gotten better by one gagillion times. And I always liked your inking anyhow.

I got the picture!!! Awesome, so your art was the first piece of mail that got to me in my new apartment! :D Thanks so much again, it's hilarious!

And thanks too, I feel like I'm getting a bit better at the olde brush. Actually since i felt the last book lost soo much quality when it was shrunk down to that stupid digest size (i'm beginning to hate that size) I decided to draw my pages smaller. We'll see if it effects the quality when it's printed. I call it the "ECR Experiment"

Maybe the inking thing is cuz I don't ink much american virgin anymore? Hmm

Yay!

That's interesting that the smaller ages help. I have a really hard time using brush on anything but larger-then-normal pages. (not Paul Pope big, but big.) I guess though with that tiny tiny print size it makes sense.

In the case of ECR, what size were you drawing at before, and what are you drawing at now? I'm always curious about these little technical things.

i was drawing about 9x14 originally, but i pump in a lot of detail. i shrunk it down onlyy a few inches, now it's 8x12 maybe? about there... with full bleed and stuff. i dunno, those few inches i hope make a difference when it's printed. digest size is tricky.

i enjoy working big, but i felt that the book was suffering... we'll see. the pages go faster now anyway. less space to cover! what size do you work at?

I'm usually a 10x15 guy, but I've found that for pen work I should go a little smaller than that. For brush work though, I seem to need more space to get the effects I want without my hand cramping to hell making milimeter-long lines, so I prefer working at 16 tall. Out of Water's pages were huge, at 12x13, with the 13 being reduced to eight inches or something in print.

I also generally work in more panels per page than you do, though. I'm doing a comic for Flight with somewhat more manga-esque pacing and panel density, so I'll see how that turns out.

(I'm dreading that a little, since my coloring skills are atrocious. You'll be seeing me begging critiques on the boards alot.)

woah. I'd love to see ECR animated. That'd be sweet as shit. (actually... sweeter, considering, I don't believe shit is very sweet)

The speech bubble makes it look like it's signed by Adam Hughes.

I can't wait for this! What will happen with the map? Argh! I must know!
